Tis the Season for Tying the Knot!

It seems that this summer is the time that every engaged couple I know decided to set their wedding date, and as a result the questions have poured in. Fortunately, the ones on tying bow ties, folding pocket handkerchieves and boutonniere scale have all been answered by my eHow videos.

Here however are the answers to some of the other questions I have received:

How do I even start to figure out the right dress?

A dress based on the snow, optic or ivory based off of the “white” of your eye is stunning, but a bridal dress does not need to be limited to it. Take a look in your closet for the clues of not only the colors, but the necklines, silhouettes and fabrics that you feel best in. For a soft look, look at the colors you wear in the warmest weather, or your “pastels”. Remember that your big day is one that you should feel the most beautiful version of yourself, and perhaps that means going for a Grecian gown or 60s shift in soft coral or dusty periwinkle!

How do I add color to my bouquet and which color might be best?

Just like an accessory that you wear such as an earring or purse, a bouquet becomes a vital component of a bride’s head-to-toe look. Therefore, add a color in the bouquet that is one of your best. A good rule of thumb is to use your Romantic Color, so look to your makeup bag as inspiration for your flowers and go for colors that match your favorite blush or lipstick!

Can I add color to my bridal jewelry?

Just like a black dress is more dynamic worn with jewelry in colors other than black, a wedding dress in your best shade of white is made fresh and vibrant when you pop a color against it, and it is best accomplished with jewelry. Reach for clear faceted stones that catch the light, and take a color cue from your Energy Color or the dominant tone in your eye. The results will insure that your eyes pop and sparkle in each and every photo of the wedding album!
