The Holiday Countdown

The holidays are going to look different this year. Many people will choose not to travel. Celebrations will be smaller, and the pace altered.

As a result, my friends Darla DeMorrow and Sophia Clark and I have decided to offer up our best tips for inspiring style and home to make your holidays at home bright. Darla’s a Certified Professional Organizer®, international speaker, and author of the best-selling book series SORT and Succeed. Sophia is an internationally-known luxury furniture designer.

Starting December 1, we’ll be posting a short video each day to inspire you to make the most of your holidays. Each video is under 5 minutes long, delivered right to your mailbox, and we each aim to solve a common holiday stress or dilemma for you.

It’s free, and there’s nothing to buy. This is our holiday gift to you. Click here to register.

The History of Black Friday

The popular definition of the origin of  “Black Friday” is as follows: Eager shoppers would flood local shops and malls the day after Thanksgiving, and that surge in spending was enough to put retailers “in the black” for the year. Therefore, the day following Thanksgiving was dubbed “Black Friday,” and it became the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. There is however much more to the story, revealed in my interview with the Huffington Post:
